The Claremont Colleges Services Announces New Chaplains

Claremont, Calif. (September 10, 2021)—The Claremont Colleges Services has announced the appointment of two new chaplains at the McAlister Center for Religious Activities. Rabbi Hannah Elkin is the Jewish Chaplain, and Reverend Naima Lett will serve as the interim Protestant Chaplain at the Claremont Colleges for the 2021-22 academic year. They join Catholic Chaplain Father Joe Fenton and Muslim Chaplain Imam Adeel Zeb as part of the interfaith Chaplaincy at The Claremont Colleges.

Rabbi Elkin was ordained by the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, where she also received a Masters of Jewish Education, worked as a teaching assistant at USC’s Louchheim School for Judaic Studies, and served as a spiritual counselor at Beit T’Shuvah, a Jewish-based addiction recovery center in Los Angeles. Before attending rabbinical school, Elkin earned a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from Middlebury College and a Master of Theological Studies from Harvard Divinity School.

Reverend Lett holds graduate degrees from the Dallas Theological Seminary (MA in Media and Communication) and the Talbot School of Theology, Biola University (Doctor in Ministry, Preaching). She is co-founder and co-pastor of Hope in the Hills and co-founder of the 40/50 Project, a nationwide movement for racial healing and reconciliation within faith communities. An honors graduate of Howard University, Lett earned a BFA in theater arts and acting.
