A Reading with Gazan Poet Yahya Ashour
Poetry has long been used as a means of Palestinian resistance and resilience. Today, we are honored to invite Yahya Ashour to share his poetry which documents his experience under the barbaric israeli siege on Gaza as well as his experience witnessing his family and his people live through genocide.
Yahya Ashour is a poet, mentor, editor, and translator, born and raised in Gaza, who has been exiled in the US since fall of 2023. Ashour is a touring poet, an honorary fellow in writing at the University of lowa, and the author of the e-book "A Gaza of Siege & Genocide." Additionally, he is a visiting professor at Pitzer College, making this event all the more special for members of the Claremont community.
All are welcome to attend this event.
