The Misa Jornalera is an event hosted by the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center during November to show appreciation to the workers while also ensuring they have food for Thanksgiving. Food drive ends November 20th.
The Community Engagement Center (CEC) is kicking off this year’s Misa Jornalera Food Drive in support of our partnership with the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center (PEOC), now until Thursday, November 20th.
The Misa Jornalera is an event hosted by the PEOC during November to show appreciation to the workers while also ensuring they have food for Thanksgiving. This year’s food drive is particularly important as many in this community are facing unprecedented food insecurities due to scarcity of work and the ongoing ICE raids occurring in the surrounding cities. Your support can make a real difference this season! If you are able to, please consider donating few canned or dried good items to the designated boxes on campus or the CEC.
Drop Off Locations (Look for the big brown box!):
- Division of Student Affairs: Scott Hall 120
- Dean of Faculty Core: Scott Hall 114
- Community Engagement Center: Scott Hall 108
- Facilities Office: McConnell 113 (lower level)
- Mead Lobby
- Gold Student Center Lobby: Gold Student Center (below TV)
- Human Resources: McConnell (upper level)

Please be thoughtful of your food donations. This is not a chance to clear out unwanted food/pantry items. Please check expiration/use by dates. Our goal is to provide usable, nutritious food, and to collect as many as items as possible!
In addition to this food drive, we will also be doing an ongoing food and toiletries collection for the center. We will be delivering the collected items during our biweekly Encuentros lunches.
For questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out Jack Contreras.
