COVID-19 Information
Although the federal public health emergency has ended, we emphasize the importance of taking certain safety measures due to the ongoing presence of COVID-19 in our region and worldwide.
We urge members of our community to stay up to date on their COVID-19 vaccinations.
Testing for COVID-19 is only available on campus at Student Health Services via a lab visit. Visit the SHS website for more information on setting up a lab appointment.
Schedule a Lab Visit via My Health Portal or call SHS at 909-621-8222. Results will be posted to your My Health Portal within an hour after your visit. Appointments are required; walk-ins will be accommodated in open appointment times as available.
Please be advised that the COVID-19 test kit vending machines, previously stationed, are no longer available. All undergraduate students at The Claremont Colleges can receive COVID tests for free exclusively at Student Health Services.
The health and well-being of students remain SHS’s top priority, and your attention to this transition is greatly appreciated. Wishing students a joyful and healthy spring semester.
- Stay home away from others until you have not had a fever for 24 hours (without using fever-reducing medication) and other symptoms are improving. The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health (LAC DPH) recommends that you test negative before resuming normal activities. COVID-19 can spread quickly, especially when someone feels sick.
- Wear a well-fitting mask around others while you feel sick. Masks can help prevent the spread of germs, including COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses.
- Get tested. Testing helps make sure you get the right treatment and don't spread germs to others. If you test negative but continue to feel sick, test again 48 hours later. If you continue testing negative, talk to your doctor about testing for other respiratory pathogens, especially if you are at high risk for severe illness.
- Avoid contact with high-risk individuals for 10 days after you start feeling sick. This includes people who are immunocompromised.
- Get treatment for COVID-19 or influenza. Talk to your provider about options.
- If you have symptoms:
- Follow the steps above for people who feel sick with symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID-19.
- If you do not have symptoms, you do not need to stay home as long as you:
- Wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days after you receive a positive test result.
- Monitor yourself for symptoms. If you start feeling sick, immediately follow the instructions above for people who feel sick with symptoms of a cold, flu, or COVID-19.
- Avoid contact with high-risk individuals for 10 days after you test positive. Higher risk individuals include the elderly, people who reside temporarily or live in high-risk congregate settings, or people who are immunocompromised.
In addition, tell anyone you’ve been around while you were potentially infectious (that is, two days before and while you felt sick) that they have been exposed and need to follow the instructions for people exposed to COVID-19 below.
- Wear a well-fitting mask around others for 10 days after your last exposure. Since it is possible to be infected without symptoms, exposed individuals could unknowingly spread COVID-19. It's especially important if you have contact with high-risk individuals, like people who reside temporarily or live in a high-risk congregate setting or people who are immunocompromised.
- Monitor your health for 10 days after your last exposure. If you start to feel sick, immediately follow the instructions above for people who feel sick with symptoms of COVID-19.
- Get tested 3-5 days after you were last exposed. If you recently recovered from COVID-19 in the last 90 days, review testing recommendations.
If you have questions, call the Public Health COVID Information Line at 1-833-540-0473.
Hand sanitizing stations will remain throughout campus and within buildings. Disinfecting wipes will be available in classrooms and at the ResLife office. Please assist in keeping Pitzer safe and healthy by regularly washing hands and wiping down surfaces (e.g., printers, and keyboards before and after use) and shared community areas. Let’s all continue to encourage and model these behaviors for our community.
