Welcome to the First-Gen Program at Pitzer College
The First-Gen Program at Pitzer College is a collaborative initiative between the Division of Academic Affairs and the Division of Student Affairs, designed to support, empower, and celebrate students who are the first in their families to attend and graduate from college in the U.S. Recognizing the unique challenges and strengths that first-gen students bring to our community, this partnership ensures a holistic network of academic, personal, and professional resources to help students thrive.

At Pitzer, we believe that first-generation students enrich our campus with their resilience, ambition, and diverse perspectives. The First-Gen Program ensures that every student feels seen, supported, and equipped to succeed.
History of the Program

First-Gen Student Support
Pitzer College has enhanced support for first-generation students by establishing a First-Gen Steering Committee (FGSC). This committee plans campus programming and manages an annual budget to address the academic and co-curricular needs of first-gen students. The FGSC includes co-chairs from Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, staff members with first-gen responsibilities, and two student members serving as program assistants. This collaborative structure aims to bolster resources and support for first-gen students at Pitzer.
