The Great ShakeOut is an excellent opportunity for individuals and communities to come together and enhance their earthquake preparedness.

Here's what you can expect during The Great ShakeOut drill:

  • You will receive an Everbridge message via text and email announcing the start of the event.
  • Wherever you are, take a moment to "Drop, Cover, and Hold On”. Find a sturdy piece of furniture to take cover under, protect your head and neck, and hold on until the event is over.
  • Another Everbridge message will be sent to announce the event is over.
  • After the drill, you will be prompted to acknowledge receipt of the Everbridge message. Note that when appropriate, for drills or actual emergencies, Pitzer utilizes our specific or supplemental Everbridge messaging to the Campus Safety messages to convey Pitzer specifics, and so that Pitzer can validate our data and ensure we have accurate contact information for our community members in case of future emergencies.
  • After the drill, please take a moment to review earthquake safety and the evacuation procedures posted in classrooms and at Shakeout.org.

Let's come together as a community to practice earthquake safety and ensure we are ready to protect ourselves when it matters most. Thank you for your commitment to safety.
