Claremont, Calif. (February 8, 2011) — Pitzer Art Galleries received a Pasadena Art Alliance Grant to support its fall 2011 exhibition entitled Synthetic Ritual to be held at Nichols Gallery. The 2011 Pasadena Art Alliance Grant recipients will be honored at a luncheon on March 8.
Synthetic Ritual will be co-curated by Gabi Scardi, Milan-based curator/ critic, and Ciara Ennis, curator/director of Pitzer Art Galleries. Ten contemporary artists including Adrian Paci and Yoshua Okon will work in a variety of media to explore the idea of ritual and superstition in professional and personal lives and asks why, in such an advanced and sophisticated technological and cyber driven world, ritual still occupies such an important and dominant role.
Since 1955, the Pasadena Art Alliance fosters appreciation for contemporary visual art in Southern California by supporting artists, exhibition, educational programs and art-oriented non-profit institutions.
