This painting symbolizes change. This is represented by the autumn leaves, which are fluid, their green color quickly turns to red before falling from the trees. Here, the tiger sits on a blanket, made of leaves, which represents change. The stationary position of the tiger alludes to stability during the turbulent autumn period. The tiger must give up the stationary comfort and move with the season. As previously mentioned in reference to other works, time precipitates movement and heals. It creates closure. The leaves falling on the ground symbolize the gradual process of letting go—knowing that something new will come in spring.
