Zinzi Clemmons was raised in Philadelphia by a South African mother and an American father. Co-founder of the literary journal Apogee, she currently serves as Associate Editor at the Believer and as Contributing Editor to Literary Hub. Her debut novel, What We Lose (Viking 2017) is a finalist for the Carnegie Medal, the Aspen Words Literary Prize, and the National Book Critics Circle Leonard Prize. Marcelo Hernandez Castillo is a poet, essayist, and translator born in Zacatecas, Mexico. He is the author of Cenzontle, winner of the A. Poulin, Jr. Prize (BOA Editions 2018), Dulce, winner of the sixth annual Drinking Gourd Chapbook Prize (Northwestern University Press 2017), and Children of the Land: a Memoir (Harper Collins 2020). He is a Canto Mundo Fellow and became the first undocumented student to enroll and graduate from the M.F.A program at the University of Michigan.
