Program Title: Pitzer Exchange with the University of Adelaide

Eligibility
University of Adelaide requires a 2.5 GPA. Preference given to juniors and first semester seniors but sophomores are eligible if space is available.

Preparation
Any area studies course, if available. Since few courses at the Claremont Colleges have an emphasis on Australia, general preparation options include: Comparative Politics, Intercultural Communications, Introduction to International/ Intercultural Studies, Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology.

Application
Students must first apply through Pitzer’s Office of Study Abroad and International Programs. If accepted by Pitzer, students will then be asked to complete the University forms.

Program Dates
Fall semester: Mid-July to late November
Spring semester: Mid-February to early July
Full year: The Australian academic year runs from mid-February to late November

Required Courses
Students are required to take a full course load at the University including one course with content on Australian history, politics, literature or culture. In addition, students take the Pitzer course MLLC110 Intercultural Learning: Portfolio Writing via Sakai.

Course Options
The University offers broad curricular offerings with particular strengths in biological sciences, environmental science, and the social sciences. Courses open to exchange students can be found here: https://www.adelaide.edu.au/inbound-study-abroad/choosing/

Credit Possible
Students must take a full course load of 12 units in order to earn four course credits at Pitzer. In addition, students will earn 0.5 Pitzer course credits for the writing course via Sakai. (See above under Required Courses.)

Housing and Board Options
Students choose from one of several dormitory options called “colleges” on campus.

Additional Notes
Courses in some fields are offered for the full year and students going July to November will have limited options in certain fields. Psychology majors will have more options February to July.
