Eligibility
Preference is given to Classics Majors. Students must be in good standing at Pitzer College. Preference is given to juniors and first semester seniors but qualified sophomores are eligible if space is available.

Preparation
General preparation options include Comparative Politics, Intercultural Communications, Introduction to International/Intercultural Studies, and Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology.

Application
Students must first apply through Pitzer’s Office of Study Abroad and International Programs. If approved by Pitzer, students will then be asked to complete the College Year in Athens (CYA) applications.

Program Dates
Fall semester: Late August to mid-December
Spring semester: Late January to mid-May

Required Courses
Students must take at least one Classics course and Modern Greek.

Intensive Language
Modern Greek is offered at the beginning, intermediate and advanced level.

Course Options
Students may choose from a variety of subjects. Course options include Anthropology, Archaeology, Architecture, Art History, Classics, History, Modern Greek and more.

Credit Possible
Students will take four CYA courses which is equivalent to 4.0 Pitzer course credits.

Housing and Board Options
Students may live in furnished CYA apartments with other CYA students. If living in an apartment, CYA provides a buffet lunch Monday through Friday. Pitzer provides an allowance for breakfast and dinner Monday through Friday and for all weekend meals. A limited number of homestays may also be available. Pitzer encourages students to explore the homestay option.
