Dear Pitzer Students,

Welcome to another year where Pitzer College is bursting with new possibilities as we welcome both new and returning students to campus. I encourage you to take full advantage of the many choices for personal, social and academic growth that Pitzer and the greater Claremont community affords. As we celebrate the start of this academic year, let us take this opportunity to come together in a spirit of generosity, commitment and shared learning.

Summer Highlights:

  • We are proud to report that Pitzer College’s accreditation was affirmed for another eight years by the WASC Senior College and University Commission (WSCUC).
    • Join me in welcoming to our leadership team Allen M. Omoto, vice president of academic affairs and dean of the faculty. Allen comes to us from Claremont Graduate University, where he served as a distinguished faculty member and administrator.
    • Pitzer College has added two more Pitzer Flexible Classrooms – Fletcher 101 and Broad Hall 210.  Stop by to see the advanced features.
    • The lobby in the Admissions Office has a new face – bright, creative and welcoming for prospective students and their families.

Your time on campus this fall will be busy with a host of activities at Pitzer and across the Claremont Colleges. Take advantage of these robust opportunities to learn, socialize, engage and grow. This week, the College hosts the New Student Convocation, the Community Engagement Center (CEC) Open House and On-Campus Job Fair. Next week, plan to attend Student Senate’s Involvement Fair, the Career Pop-Up, Queer Resource Center Open House, the Office of Black Student Affairs (OBSA) and Chicano Latino Student Affairs (CLSA) 50th Anniversary Block Party and Sagehens football and soccer games!

Your college career is your time; we are here to support your intellectual, social and ethical growth. I look forward to meeting you as we embark on this transformative and fulfilling new year at Pitzer College.
