Our campus is once again alive with the aspirations of new and returning students, faculty and staff. Each September, I am energized and optimistic about how much we can accomplish. This academic year promises new discoveries, intellectual enrichment and personal growth. I encourage each of us to embrace this extraordinary opportunity and come together in search of learning in a spirit of generosity and shared commitment.
Over the summer, we welcomed three new members to the College leadership team; received a $1.1 million grant to expand prison education at the 5Cs; our professors won book awards and national grants; and our alumni traveled the world. Read about summer highlights here.
I encourage you to take advantage of the robust opportunities across campus. This month, look for Student Senate’s Involvement Fair, the start of MCSI’s Perception in a Social World speaker series and the opening of Pitzer College Art Galleries’ Instruments of Accountability exhibition. As well, Sagehens sports teams have already kicked off the fall season, and you will find the Pitzer calendar brimming with events.
Your opportunities for intellectual, social and ethical growth are boundless at Pitzer. I look forward to meeting and getting to know you as we embark on a transformative and fulfilling year at Pitzer College.
