Dear Pitzer Staff, Faculty, and Student Participants,
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who
helped make our incoming Student and Parent Orientation events such a great
success. Suzanne and I always look forward to welcoming our new class and this
year was no exception. Your excitement and care for our students and their
families was clearly felt by all. Thank you for enthusiastically welcoming our
incoming Class of 2023.
These events over multiple days require an extraordinary
amount of planning and preparation by our community. I’d like to thank Yvonne
Berumen and the admissions and financial aid staff for identifying and recruiting
such a talented incoming class; Neil Macready and the entire Advancement team
for organizing the many effective events, both on campus and at the President’s
home; Mike Segawa and the student affairs staff for preparing the new student
programming and orientation adventures; Allen Omoto and the academic affairs
staff for planning an exceptional first year seminar program for the eager
class of 2023; Mark Crawbuck and grounds services, maintenance and custodial
staff for setting up each venue, helping our parents and students move-in, and
continually beautifying Pitzer College; Vania Hernandez and Chef Marcos Rios,
along with our dining services staff, for exceptional meals and snacks all
served with Pitzer enthusiasm. Thank you to those who work behind the scenes to
support all of us – Communications, Duplicating, HR, IT, and the Mail Room.
All of you make Pitzer College a unique and special place.
Thank you.
I wish you a restful holiday weekend and look forward to the
year ahead.
