Presidential Search

Pitzer College is pleased to announce the launch of its search for Pitzer’s seventh president.

After a 45-year career in higher education and philanthropy, President Melvin L. Oliver announced his retirement in February 2022. The Board of Trustees has appointed Trustee Jill Klein P’15 to serve as interim president of Pitzer College, beginning July 1, 2022.

The Board is dedicated to ensuring that Pitzer’s next president is committed to the College’s mission and core values and to leading our institution with the meaningful participation of students, faculty, and staff. The leadership profile for our next president can be accessed here.

Community Listening Sessions

Representatives from WittKieffer, our presidential search consultants, led a series of listening sessions throughout spring 2022 to gain input from the Pitzer community on the opportunities and challenges facing the next Pitzer president and the experience and qualifications we are seeking for the role. The responses helped generate the Leadership Profile that will be used to begin conversations with potential candidates and identify finalists for the position. The full schedule of listening sessions is listed below. We sought the community’s input in the following four critical areas:
