Welcome back!
Well this semester is not starting how any of us were planning, and hopefully, in a few weeks everyone is back, and things will start to get some-what back to normal! As the new semester starts, we wanted to update you on how service will look like for the first couple weeks, and a few friendly reminders for the semester as well. Additionally, as communicated last semester, students will eat on their home campuses for now and this decision will be reconsidered/communicated on February 7.
McCONNELL
When entering McConnell Dining Hall
- Masks are always required. Please be respectful to the cashiers by having your mask on and ready to go as you enter the dining hall. Please remain masked at all times within the dining hall as we are not doing indoor dining for the first couple weeks (at least).
- Pitzer ID Card is always required. If you need a new ID Card, please go to The Connection at the Library to get a new one. If you repeatedly do not bring your ID Card in, it will be reported to Student Affairs.
- Maintain Distance. Please maintain a 6’ distance while in line inside and outside of McConnell
- Sneaking in. If you are entering without checking in with the cashier, it is considered sneaking in, even if you have already been inside. Entering through the Exit doors, or not producing your ID will result in your information being reported to Student Affairs for potential conduct referral.
- Green Boxes. As everything will be take-out only (for at least the first couple weeks), green boxes will still be allowed to help reduce waste. Green boxes will go through the same process of exchange or checking out; however, at the cashier, you will be given a token to give to the service staff at the food line. That is where you will receive a new green box. Boxes handed to the staff at the food line will not be accepted.
- Know the menu. Help keep the line moving fast by knowing what you want before you get inside. The menus are posted weekly, so you can check it out on Sunday to plan your meals. Due to procurement issues, the menus may change the day of, so it is always good to double check when it is closer to service time. You can find the menus here: https://pitzer.cafebonappetit.com/
- Pre-Ordered Meals: Due to lack of usage last semester, we will no longer be doing pre-ordered online meals for pick-up at McConnell this semester. Students may still use meal exchanges at the Pit-Stop for additional “to go” food options for breakfast/lunch.
- Meal Plan Changes: Meal plans can be changed this semester up until Monday, Jan. 24, 2022 by emailing [email protected].
- Faculty & Staff. At this time, Pitzer students only will be allowed in McConnell.
What does service look like during the first two weeks?
- One line in & out. When you enter the Dining Hall, you will head straight back to the Global Station. From there, you will be able to pick out your “starter” (salad, sandwich, fruit), then will get your entrée and sides. All food will go in a white to-go food box (unless you have a Green Box token). Next is dessert and at the Grill Station, there will be canned and bottled beverages.
- Please avoid going back and forth in the line. If there are a lot of students, you may be asked to start at the beginning of the line.
- Remember this is only temporary and in place to keep everyone safe.
- No self-service. All the fresh food will be boxed by dining hall staff and handed over to you, please refrain from grabbing anything on the service line.
- No Indoor dining. At this time, seating indoors will not be allowed. There are outdoor seating areas at the following locations: the McConnell Apron, Holden Garden, Scott Courtyard, the Mounds, patio south of Skandera Hall, Broad Center patio, and patio area by the Shakedown.

As always, please reach out with any questions you may have: [email protected] or (909) 607-8491.
