Pitzer Return to Campus Update

Happy New Year Everyone,

We hope your break is going well and rejuvenating and most important that you are staying safe wherever you are. On behalf of OSA, we can imagine, you may have many questions emerging regarding a safe return to campus later this month. Please note this is the first day that the college has reopened after being closed for the past two weeks for winter break. We are aggressively monitoring the COVID Omicron variant and working with various stakeholders across the college, our broader consortium partners as well as LA County public health officials to ensure that we are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of our students and the broader Pitzer community will be prioritized.

We recognize that for some, definitive updates will help to solidify travel plans etc. and you should anticipate hearing official communication from the college by week’s end at the latest. As a reminder, we will all need to continue to work diligently as a community to keep one another safe, healthy, to ensure that we are able to remain here without disruption of any sort. That will require that we are consistent in our testing, masking, vaccinations as well adhering to the ever-evolving health guidelines to make this happen. As a reminder, if you have not had a chance to do so already, please remember to upload your booster vaccine information ahead of the January 11th deadline.

Booster Vaccine Requirement
Given the rapid COVID-19 surge we are seeing across the nation and at institutions of higher education, we must remain vigilant and take necessary steps to help proactively protect ourselves, each other, and our greater community. We know all too well how impacted health providers were earlier on in the pandemic as it relates to vaccine access. Our Mindful of Each Other Community Agreement guidelines and our core value of Social Responsibility continue to serve as our compass as we continue to navigate the pandemic. In addition to existing COVID-19 vaccine requirements, with support from Student Health Services, Pitzer students are required to receive their COVID-19 booster and upload their record to Healthy Pitzer: https://www.pitzer.edu/information-technology/healthy-pitzer-vaccine-reporting/.

  • The deadline to get boosted and verify COVID-19 booster status is Tuesday, January 11, 2022. Those not eligible for the booster, per CDC guidelines (see link below), by January 11 must get boosted within two weeks of becoming eligible.
  • Students unable to receive their booster by this date due to either equitable access limitations or not having met current CDC booster access guidelines, must notify Pitzer Nurse Zephyr at [email protected] by January 11, 2022.
  • Student Health Services will be hosting booster clinics for these students beginning the second week of classes. Student Affairs will also continue to provide support to students, including transportation as needed.
