Thursday, August 23

6–7:30 p.m. 2nd Annual International Parent Reception
President’s Residence, Claremont
President Melvin L. Oliver and Suzanne Oliver are delighted to welcome our new international Pitzer families and guests to their home for an intimate reception to kick off Orientation. This event is being held concurrently with the International Place dinner for all incoming international students of The Claremont Colleges, so plan on joining the Olivers while your student is making new friends.

Friday, August 24

5–6:30 p.m. Pitzer Groove at the Grove
Grove House and Brant Clock Tower Lawn
If you are in town to get an early start for the Pitzer Class of 2022 Orientation, this is the place to be! Please join President Melvin L. Oliver, Suzanne Oliver, and other members of the Pitzer community (including the Grove House chickens!) for a relaxing afternoon reception at one of Pitzer’s most iconic locations. Everyone here for Orientation—students, parents, guardians, and families—are all welcome.

Saturday, August 25

8 a.m.–Noon Registration & Student Move-In
Gold Student Health and Wellness Center
Meet members of the Parent Leadership Council, pick up your parent information packet, grab a bite to eat, and help your student move in!

9 a.m.–5 p.m. Family & Friends Lounge Open
McConnell Center Living Room
For those “in between” times, rest in this air-conditioned lounge, chat with fellow parents and parent ambassadors, write your student a letter, purchase Pitzer merchandise, and enjoy light refreshments throughout the day.

9 a.m.–5 p.m. Letter to Your Student
McConnell Center Living Room
Take a few moments to write a heartfelt note to your student as they embark on this new journey. Letters will be delivered to your student after the first week of classes.

Noon–1:30 p.m. Parent Welcome Luncheon
McConnell Center Dining Hall
Enjoy a meal from one of the nation’s top-ranked college dining halls while listening to presentations by President Melvin L. Oliver and senior administrators.

1:45–3 p.m. Insights into Life at Pitzer
Benson Auditorium
Learn more about campus-based resources, including academic advising, student support services, global programs, career services, community services, and residence life.

4–5 p.m. Resources Fair

Do you have questions? Visit the Pitzer Resources Fair and learn more about offerings and programs available for your student at Pitzer and around The Claremont Colleges.

4–5 p.m. First-Generation Family Welcome Reception
Gold Student Health and Wellness Center
Students and parents are invited to attend this session to learn about Pitzer’s FirstGen program, which supports students who are the first in their families to attend a four-year college.

4–4:45 p.m. Athletics 101 Session
Benson Auditorium
Come and meet the Sagehen Athletics team and learn how you and your student-athlete can get the most out of our varsity sports programs. Hear from department leaders including Lesley Irvine, director of athletics, and Angel Mason, senior associate athletic director. Key support areas, including Sports Medicine, Student-Athlete Services, and Sports Information, will share important information on their roles and areas. This interactive session will also include coaches and former and current student-athletes in an interactive Q&A panel. Join us to hear about exciting Sagehen Athletics updates and gain insights in to the varsity athletic program and the Division III student-athlete experience.

5–6 p.m. Farewell Dinner
Pellissier Mall (The Mounds)
Enjoy a dinner on the Mounds with your student. Then, as your student launches their undergraduate adventure, this is the time for family members to say goodbye.

6:15 p.m. Pitzer’s Cheers (and Tears) Reception
President’s Residence, Claremont
Your student is off to their first night at Pitzer College—now what? Please join President Melvin L. Oliver, Suzanne Oliver, and Pitzer parent volunteers at the President’s Residence for a special toast to the Class of 2022.
