Claremont, Calif. (July 24, 2013) – Pitzer College congratulates Rhea Jayachandran ’16,  Hannah Leib ’16, Alex Oxbourough-Yankus ’14,  Ellen Yamasaki ’15 and the entire Women’s Track and Field team for earning the highest team cumulative grade point average in the nation (3.69) in the 2013 season. The US Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced the results this week.

The Pomona-Pitzer’s 3.69 GPA edged out George Fox University’s 3.66. Washington University in St. Louis finished in third place with a 3.58.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. Sagehen teams include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, water polo, swimming and diving. Pitzer students also participate in the Claremont Colleges club sports programs that compete nationally.
