Pitzer College Alumnus Joins Olympus Visionary Program

Claremont, Calif. (May 13, 2011) — Pitzer College alumnus and freelance photographer David H. Wells '79 has joined the Olympus Visionary program.

Wells specializes in in-depth photo-essays for publications and exhibitions. His work emphasizes intercultural communications and the use of light and shadow to enhance visual narratives. Before going freelance, he was a staff photographer for the Syracuse Newspapers, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and a contract photographer for Los Angeles Times. His photos have also been published in Chicago Tribune, Life Magazine, Los Angeles Times Magazine, National Geographic, Newsweek Magazine, The New York Times Magazine and Time Magazine.

Wells, who majored in art at Pitzer College, will travel to Israel and Italy in the coming months to photograph and teach.

Established by Olympus Imaging America Inc. in partnership with some of today's most talented photographers, the Olympus Visionary program is dedicated to creating superb digital images with the help of Olympus' digital cameras and lenses. The Visionaries use Olympus digital cameras in their daily assignments and personal work; participate in speaking engagements and appearances; and provide Olympus with input into equipment development.
