Pitzer College Ranks in Top 20 among Baccalaureate Institutions for Students Studying Abroad

Claremont, Calif. (November 22, 2004) — Pitzer College ranked 14th among baccalaureate institutions for undergraduate participation in study abroad programs in 2002-2003 in a report issued from the Institute of International Education (IIE).

Pitzer College's top ranking is a result of 72% of its students studying abroad. Pitzer offers eight unique study abroad programs to Botswana, China, Ecuador, India, Italy and Nepal. In addition, the College offers 25 domestic and international exchange programs with other countries. The majority of Pitzer students select programs outside Western Europe and the English-speaking world that allow them to study a foreign language intensively, live with a local family, deeply immerse themselves in a local community, and conduct an independent research project or internship.

Pitzer alumni often recognize their study abroad experiences as instrumental in both getting jobs and in enriching their career experiences.
