The gifts that alumni, parents, and friends of the College make in response to yearly requests for support comprise the Annual Fund. Unlike many other gifts to Pitzer College, a gift to the Annual Fund goes where it is needed most.
Many of the gifts the College receives have been earmarked by the donor to go to a specified area of the campus. While these restricted gifts have a wonderful impact on specific programs or areas, there are not enough of them to reach all academic programs and areas which need support. Annual Fund donations are typically unrestricted and all are budget relieving. These gifts are applied to various areas including enhancing financial aid packages, providing faculty resources, preserving our beautiful campus and much more.
The percentage of alumni that participate is a factor used in US News and World Report when determining a College's rankings. Also, corporations and foundations look at the number of people, especially the percent of alumni, who give back as a basis to determine whether we are a worthwhile investment. So your support at ANY level is a vote of confidence in a Pitzer education and makes a difference to the College and its current students.
That's great! A gift of any size still counts toward participation! Not only does participation affect our standing in rankings like US News and World report but tuition only covers between 65%-70% of the actual cost of providing a Pitzer education. Every gift helps a Pitzer student.
Yes! The easiest way to give in installments is to provide us with your credit/debit card information and we will automatically process your gift monthly, quarterly, or however you'd prefer. It's fast, easy and you don't have to worry about sending anything in. For additional information, please contact the Advancement Office at (909) 621-8130 or (877) 357-7479 or by email at email@example.com. You can also set up installments using our online giving form by clicking here.
Whether you believe in the validity of national rankings or not, others do, including future Pitzer students and their parents. Ignoring the rankings will not make them go away. That said, Pitzer does not bend to reflect everything that the rankings want to see, but why not respond to the parts that do not take away from the Pitzer College mission? Giving to Pitzer not only affects the rankings, but also helps to support current and future projects on campus.
