The whimsical aspects of this piece create a fairytale feeling that may be far from reality. The collection of different species mirrors aspirations for a better would of inclusion and equity. Their faces are almost cartoon-like—not as realistic as his other works. This might explain why there is no hierarchy here. The animals are grouped together in a family unit creating and sharing space. The sunshine is used to emphasize this fantastical moment. This is Stan’s most recent piece which marks his development as an artist. It was made at a time when he was about to rejoin the outside world and therefore an image of hope.
