Brian Lies will discuss strategies for writing and illustrating picture books that explore complex topics, like loss and grief, in a way that is validating and empowering for children.
Brian Lies has written and illustrated nearly thirty books, including his 2019 Caldecott Honor-winning The Rough Patch, and other New York Times bestselling books. Brian’s work has garnered many publishing awards, and can be found in galleries around the country (brianlies.com). He and his wife, Laurel, live in Duxbury, MA with their daughter and two cats.
