Join us for a conversation with Father Gregory Boyle, founder of Homeboy Industries, the largest gang intervention, rehabilitation, and re-entry program in the world. Pitzer President Melvin L. Oliver will introduce this special event, and Professor and Associate Dean of Faculty Adrian Pantoja P’18, P’24, will lead the discussion with Father Boyle.
Father Boyle popularized the radical notion that even the most demonized individuals can thrive when given a second chance. His 2010 New York Times-bestseller, Tattoos on the Heart: The Power of Boundless Compassion, is the first reading selection of Pitzer’s new Alumni & Family Book Club. His most recent book, Barking to the Choir: The Power of Radical Kinship, was published in 2017. Father Boyle delivered the annual Pepper Distinguished Visiting Artist and Scholar Lecture at Pitzer in December 2019 in conjunction with the Pitzer College Art Galleries’ exhibition Disruption! Art and the Prison Industrial Complex
