EWL Creative Writing Alumni Zavi Kang Engles ’14, CD Eskilson ’18, and Nick Morris ’18 will discuss their paths since graduating from Pitzer and how they have found ways to continue and support their writing practice.
Zavi Kang Engles is a writer and researcher whose work has been published in Salon, Chicago Reader, The Rumpus, Broccoli Magazine, and others. She holds a BA from Pitzer College and an MA in Social Sciences from the University of Chicago. She is currently a first year MFA candidate and the Anne Waldman Fellow at the Jack Kerouac School. She is also an assistant editor of Apogee Journal. Her most recent research project investigated far-right responses to the climate crisis.
CD Eskilson is a poet from Los Angeles. Their work appears in Hobart, Pleiades, New Delta Review, and others. CD is assistant poetry editor of Split Lip Magazine and the outreach coordinator for Open Mouth Literary Center. They’re currently an MFA candidate at the University of Arkansas.
Nick Morris is a teacher, writer, and zen student. Nick graduated from Pitzer in 2012 and from Harvard Graduate School of Education in 2019. Nick currently teaches 7th and 8th Grade English at Village Community School, a k-8 independent school in Greenwich Village. Nick lives with his partner Isabelle, an editor—and their little one—in New York City.
