Pitzer & Adelanto Community Members Organize ­to Bring Water Justice to the City

They wanted to know more about the origins and safety of their water, so a coalition of Pitzer College and community organizations has joined forces with residents to answer these questions. Discover how Pitzer’s Community Engagement Center, Robert Redford Conservancy, Keck Science, and CASA Pitzer collaborate in science and activism with students, faculty, and local partners. "I have engaged not only as a student but as an organizer who is passionate about these issues," said Pitzer senior Olivia Rosenberg-Chavez '23.

CASA Pitzer Expands Social Justice Program with $250,000 Pledge

People gather for a slideshow workshop presentation about abolitionism at CASA Pitzer.An anonymous donor pledged $250,000 over five years to help sustain and advance Pitzer College's Critical Action & Social Advocacy (CASA) Pitzer’s work in critical analysis and community partnerships around the most pressing social justice issues in the Inland Empire. Based in Ontario, CASA Pitzer brings local residents, organizers, activists, artists, and nonprofits together with Pitzer College faculty and students to build community and enact change. “We did research this past semester with a CASA Pitzer student who looked at other community engagement centers across the country, and he could not find a single one that is quite like ours."
