Pitzer Senior Benjamin Sievers ’22 Publishes Original Research on Omicron Variant

Pitzer senior Benjamin Sievers ’22 has had original research on the Omicron variant published by the journal Science Translational Medicine. Sievers is part of a team at the J. Craig Venter Institute that has partnered with Stanford University School of Medicine’s Department of Infectious Disease to see how well someone’s antibodies hold up against Covid-19 variants.

She will serve until the search for President Oliver’s successor is completed and the College’s seventh president assumes office, which is expected to occur on or before July 1, 2023.

Wind Event Update

On Friday night, January 21, Claremont experienced what the City is calling an unprecedented wind event that tore down trees all around town and knocked out electricity in many neighborhoods. Sadly, Pitzer lost a large tree on the Mounds, and two trees were uprooted in front of Broad Center.

Guiding Light: Residence Director Tasmia Moosani Helps High School Students Navigate the College Application Process

In high school, Pitzer College residence director Tasmia Moosani dreamed about going to college but didn’t know how to get there. As a first-gen, low-income Pakistani Muslim student, resources in her home, community my school were minimal. Ultimately, she found her way to college and beyond, graduating from the University of California, Irvine, with a degree in business economics and international studies and earning her master’s degree in student development administration at Seattle University.
