A Pitzer-CMC Delegation Visits the West Bank

A group of faculty and students from Pitzer College and Claremont McKenna College recently visited Birzeit University in the West Bank to learn more about Palestinian higher education institutions.

A highlight of the May trip was a meeting with Birzeit University President Beshara Doumani (and others), who discussed the challenges facing the university and other universities.

The tour’s faculty leaders were Pitzer’s Nigel Boyle, Dan Segal, and CMC’s Heather Ferguson.

Pitzer faculty participants were Bahar Acu (Mathematics), Fely Catan (Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures), Amanda Lagji (English and World Literature), and Marcus Rodriguez (Psychology). 

Pitzer student participants were Bella Jacobs, Jacob Bollag, Fatoumata Dioubate, Laine May, and Leila Tilin.
