Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens Lead Academic All-SCIAC Selections with 494 Honorees

Claremont, Calif. (July 21, 2022)—When the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) announced its 2021–22 All-Academic Team, the Pomona-Pitzer Sagehens led the way with 494 of the 2,603 all-academic honorees from across the league. Rounding out the list of top five teams in the SCIAC were Claremont-Mudd-Scripps with 413, Chapman with 299, Redlands with 277, and Occidental with 255.

The SCIAC All-Academic Team recognizes student-athletes who have achieved a grade point average of 3.4 or higher and completed a calendar year at their current institution. These SCIAC student-athletes demonstrate the NCAA Division III philosophy, which places “the highest priority on the overall quality of the educational experience and on the successful completion of all students’ academic programs.”

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College to field 21 varsity teams – The Sagehens – that compete in Division III NCAA athletics and as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
