Pitzer College Names Neil A. Macready New VP for College Advancement

Claremont, Calif. (March 02, 2018)—Pitzer College names veteran fundraiser Neil A. Macready as its new vice president for college advancement. Pitzer President Melvin Oliver made the announcement on February 26. Macready was selected following a competitive national search and will begin his post on Monday, March 5, 2018.

Macready comes to Pitzer with more than 30 years of experience as a successful fundraiser, team builder and external relations professional. Most recently, he led the Providence Tarzana Foundation as vice president and executive director. A seasoned leader, he has primarily built his career as a passionate promoter of higher education.

Prior to Providence Tarzana Foundation, he served as the senior associate dean for advancement for the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts, and Sciences at the University of Southern California (USC), where he oversaw the college’s $750 million campaign, raising more than $150 million in a two-year period while also serving as chief development officer for the $150 million USC Shoah Foundation Institute campaign initiative. During his tenure, Macready helped increase the overall Dornsife campaign total from $305 million to $455 million. He also oversaw an increase in annual cash and pledge contributions to Dornsife by 321 percent, from $32 million to $136.6 million.

As vice president for university relations at the University of Redlands from 2007 to 2012, Macready led a team of 35 of development, alumni relations, government relations and public relations professionals, while cultivating Redlands’ highest-level donors as chief development officer. He has also served as director of development for the Boys & Girls Clubs of America in Manhattan Beach, CA.

Macready earned a bachelor’s degree from USC in political science and geography and a master’s degree in sports management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.
