Harold A. Brown Takes Over as Pitzer College Board of Trustees Chair

Claremont, Calif. (June 29, 2017)—Harold A. Brown, a partner at Gang Tyre Ramer & Brown, will serve as chair of Pitzer College’s Board of Trustees beginning on July 1, 2017. Pitzer’s Board endorsed this appointment last fall following Brown’s two years of service as the Board’s vice chair.

A prominent attorney specializing in entertainment law, Brown joined Gang Tyre in 1976. His clients are among the most notable entertainers, authors, directors and producers in the world. This May, the Beverly Hills Bar Association honored Brown as its Entertainment Lawyer of the Year.

Brown joined Pitzer’s Board of Trustees in 2009. He has served on multiple committees, including the Executive Committee. He chaired the Compensation Committee and vice-chaired the Budget and Academic Affairs Committee. Brown served on the College’s Presidential Search Committee and was a member of the Board’s Divestment Working Group, which orchestrated Pitzer’s Climate Action Model to divest from fossil fuels in 2014.

Brown also serves on the board of Amblin Partners and the Geffen Playhouse. He earned his JD at the University of California, Berkeley School of Law and his BA from Occidental College.
