Pitzer Student-Athlete Jake Yasgoor ’17 Named SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Claremont, Calif. (March 2, 2017) — Pitzer College senior and Sagehens Men’s Tennis player Jake Yasgoor ’17 has been named SCIAC Athlete of the Week.

Yasgoor finished last week with a 6-2 overall record, including a 4-2 showing at the ITA Division III Indoor National Championships. He scored wins in the No. 1 singles spot and No. 3 doubles spot against No. 11 Kenyon College and No. 8 Case Western Reserve. The No. 9 Sagehens finished the ITA Indoors in fifth place.

Yasgoor has racked up the honors on the court. He was named ITA West Region Rookie of the Year in 2014 and has earned first-team All-SCIAC honors as well as Division3tennis.com recognition.

Yasgoor is majoring in economics. He will be back in action this Saturday when the Sagehens host the Redlands Bulldogs.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College to field 21 varsity teams – The Sagehens – that compete in Division III NCAA athletics and as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
