Maria Krol-Sinclair ’15
Claremont, Calif. (April 30, 2015)—Pitzer College student Maria Krol-Sinclair ’15 has been awarded a Princeton in Asia Fellowship to teach English at a teacher’s college in Jishou, Hunan Province in China.
Krol-Sinclair will be working with first- and second-year students as well as running a weekly language lab. Most of her students will return to their rural villages to teach elementary or middle school.
A political studies major, Krol-Sinclair has studied immigration policy and education reform at Pitzer. As a Community Engagement Center intern, she has worked with day laborers who are learning English as a second language at the Pomona Economic Opportunity Center. She has served as a volunteer coordinator for Jumpstart, provided research assistance to Associate Professor of Political Studies Rachel VanSickle-Ward and interned with DOOR, a consulting company based in Poland. She studied abroad at Beijing University on the Pitzer in China program. Krol-Sinclair plans to earn her master’s degree in public policy before going to law school.
Princeton in Asia is a cultural exchange program dedicated to building understanding between the United States and Asian nations.
