Pitzer Student Stephen Vint ’15 Earns Second-Team All-America Honors

Stephen Vint ’15 named a second-team D3 All-American by the ACWPCClaremont, Calif. (February 3, 2015)—Senior lefty Stephen Vint ’15 was named a second-team Division III All-American by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches, it was announced today.

Vint was the leading scorer on the Sagehens with 41 goals during the 2014 campaign, and finished his four-year career with 152 goals in four seasons. He was a part of two SCIAC titles in his first two seasons, and earned the SCIAC Rookie of the Year honor as a first-year student.

This fall, he gave one of the top performances of his career in a win over No. 12 Loyola Marymount, scoring five goals, including the game-winner in sudden death, in a 9-8 victory. He also had two-goal games in the season’s first three matches against No. 6 Long Beach State, No. 7 UC Santa Barbara and No. 19 Air Force, while adding three goals against No. 20 Concordia and two against No. 11 UC Davis.

Vint earned All-American honors for the first time in his career after twice earning All-SCIAC recognition. He has also been honored by the ACWPC on its All-Academic teams in each of his first three years.

Vint joins a long list of Sagehen All-Americans, including Jarrod Gaut ’14, who was a first-team selection last year. Jason Cox ’13 was named the ACWPC Division III Player of the Year in 2012 and was joined on the All-America teams by Mark Hudnall PO ’13and Cody Moore PO ’13.
