Claremont, Calif. (August 26, 2014) – Washington Monthly ranks Pitzer College 11th overall among national liberal arts colleges in the Service category. It also ranked the College sixth for student involvement and fifth for staff/faculty service engagement in its 2014 Annual College Guide.
Washington Monthly rates schools based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: Social Mobility (recruiting and graduating low-income students), Research (producing cutting-edge scholarship and PhDs), and Service (encouraging students to give something back to their country).
Each year, Pitzer College students, faculty and staff contribute 100,000 hours of community service. Through the College’s Community Engagement Center, Pitzer students work with community partners such as Jumpstart, Camp Afflerbaugh-Paige, Prototypes and Pomona Economic Opportunity Center.
