Harisimran Paton ’14
Claremont, Calif. (May 16, 2014)—Pitzer College student Harisimran Paton ’14 has been awarded a one-year Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Fellowship.
In Japan, Paton will team up with local educators to teach English to students in public schools. An international political economy major, Paton’s interest in East Asia developed in part through studying abroad in Beijing on the Pitzer in China program.
The JET program is designed to promote mutual and intercultural understanding between Japan and other nations. College graduates from around the globe are provided an opportunity to interact with Japanese students in a variety of educational settings and, in some cases, serve in government offices in Japan.
