Pitzer College Student-Athlete Named to Water Polo First-Team All-America

Claremont, Calif. (February 13, 2014) — Pitzer College student-athlete Jarrod Gaut ’14 was named to the first-team Division III All-America team by the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Association. Gaut plays center for the Sagehen Men’s Water Polo team.

In addition to Gaut’s honor, junior attacker Stephen Vint ’15 received honorable mention distinction.

Gaut finished the 2013 season with 48 goals, ranking him second on the Sagehens. He bookended his season with a goal in the opener against No. 2 UCLA and a goal with 0.2 seconds left in overtime to help the Sagehens defeat Chapman in the SCIAC quarterfinals, one of his four goals for the match.

Vint was close behind Gaut in the final goal tally with 46, including four goals in a win over Cal Lutheran and three against nationally ranked Air Force.

Jarrod Gaut is majoring in history and will graduate this spring. Stephen Vint is majoring in environmental analysis with a minor in sociology.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College to field 21 varsity teams – The Sagehens – that compete in Division III NCAA athletics and as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
