Pitzer College Wins Excellence Award from University and College Designers Association

Claremont, Calif. (August 21, 2013) – The Pitzer College Office of Communications has received a 2013 University and College Designers Association (UCDA) award for Excellence in Innovative Strategy for its Class of 2013 Pitzer Icons Commencement design. The entry will be exhibited at the 43rd Annual UCDA Design Conference in Louisville, Kentucky this October.

The icon design was conceptualized in 2009 by Pitzer’s Senior Graphic Designer Stephanie Estrada for the Class of 2013’s New Student Orientation program.  The design was reimagined for the College’s 2013 Commencement marketing and celebration materials and book-ended the Class’ four-year journey educational experience at Pitzer.

In 2010, the icon design was recognized with a Hermes Creative Award, a Marcom Design Award and an Education Advertising Award.  In the past year, the Office of Communications has received more than 20 awards from national and international design competitions.
