Weisz was selected along with Daniel Cespedes of Oregon State University. The pair will travel across the country this summer and document their adventure, blending media production with environmental activism.

An environmental analysis major, Weisz is passionate about the environment, social activism, outdoor adventure and inspiring youth to enjoy spending time in nature. She is also a soccer coach.

From historic climate rallies and high-adrenaline outdoor adventures, Weisz and Cespedes will have VIP access to the Sierra Club. They will collaborate on videos, with Weisz serving as the on-camera presenter and Cespedes drawing on his skills in video production and editing.

Outdoor Youth Ambassadors’ previous itineraries have included destinations and activities such as surveying ancient artifacts on an archeological dig in Utah, attending a family event sponsored by the Military Families and Veterans Initiative, lobbying in Washington DC, backpacking in Southern California’s San Jacinto Mountains with Inner City Outings, marching in the Puerto Rican Day Parade and outdoor leadership training with the Sierra Student Coalition. The 2013 itinerary promises to be filled with outdoor adventures and environmental events around the country, giving these two storytellers a look at the many ways that the Sierra Club explores, enjoys and protects the planet.

In addition to a generous stipend and all-expenses paid travel, each intern will receive $1,000 in merchandise provided by The North Face, a hallmark brand for outdoor gear, apparel and footwear.

Weisz and Cespedes will chronicle their adventures during the Best Internship on Earth at: www.sierraclub.org/bestinternship.

The Sierra Club is America’s largest grassroots environmental organization with more than 2.1 million members and supporters nationwide. In addition to creating opportunities for people of all ages and fitness levels to have meaningful outdoor experiences, the Sierra Club works to safeguard the health of communities, protect wildlife and preserve remaining wild places through grassroots activism, public education, lobbying and litigation.
