Pitzer College Wins Four 2012 MarCom Design Awards

Claremont, Calif. (November 28, 2012) — Pitzer College received four 2012 MarCom Awards from the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals, including a Platinum Award given for outstanding work that demonstrates excellent quality, creativity and resourcefulness.

The Spring 2012 Special Edition of The Participant, Pitzer’s alumni magazine, received a Platinum Award in the magazine/special edition category. A tribute to Pitzer’s first president, John Atherton, and his wife Virginia, the special edition was conceived of by Pitzer President Laura Skandera Trombley and the magazine’s three guest editors: Emeritus Professor of Linguistics Ronald Macaulay, Janet Macaulay and Research Professor of Anthropology Lee Munroe. It was designed by Senior Graphic Designer Stephanie Estrada.

Pitzer’s “New Student Orientation 2012 Passport” won Gold in the design/program guide category and the “2012 Family Weekend Invitation” earned an honorable mention for marketing/promotion/materials/invitation. Both pieces were also designed by Estrada.

The “Pitzer Postcard Video” earned Gold in the video/film/educational institution category. The video was produced by Mark Bailey, vice president for communications, marketing and public relations.

The MarCom Awards recognize outstanding achievement by marketing and communication professionals. An international creative competition, the MarCom Awards fielded more than 6,000 entries from throughout the US, Canada and several other countries during this year’s competition. The program is administered and judged by members of the Association of Marketing & Communication Professionals. The awards recognize companies and individuals whose talents exceed a high standard of excellence and whose work serves as a benchmark for the industry.
