Claremont, Calif. (February 23, 2012) — The Sagehen Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving teams earned Team Scholar All-America Awards from the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA), it was announced this week.
Both teams ranked extremely highly in the Division III rankings. The Men’s Swimming and Diving team ranked third in all of Division III with a 3.56 team GPA during the fall 2011 semester, while the Women’s Swimming and Diving team ranked fifth in Division III with a 3.55 team GPA.
The swimming teams continued an impressive run of recent success in team academic awards for athletics. The Men’s Cross Country team ranked in the top five in Division III with a cumulative 3.56 team GPA, while the Women’s Cross Country team placed in the top 10 in Division III with a 3.62 cumulative GPA. In the fall, the Softball team ranked fourth in Division III for 2011 with a 3.58 team GPA.
Over 400 schools participate in NCAA Division III athletics, making a top 10 finish in any sport’s academic rankings particularly impressive.
