Claremont, Calif. (November 15, 2011) — Pitzer College alumnus Sean Sullivan ’10 received a highly selective White House internship. Sullivan works with Vice President Joseph Biden’s speechwriting staff.
White House interns serve for about three months in various departments, including the Office of Cabinet Affairs, the Office of the White House Counsel and the Office of the Vice President.
At Pitzer, Sullivan won a 2010 Japan Exchange and Teaching Program (JET) award and studied abroad in India and China. After graduating, he taught English in South Korea as a 2010 Fulbright fellow.
Sullivan says Pitzer helped him qualify for a program which describes its mission as preparing “those devoted to public service for future leadership opportunities.”
“Pitzer teaches you the importance of being engaged in your community,” Sullivan said. “It’s been very exciting to be doing that on a national scale.”
Sullivan majored in political studies and international/intercultural studies at Pitzer.
