Pitzer College Receives $1 Million Donation from Ahmanson Foundation

Claremont, Calif. (December 8, 2010) – Pitzer College has received two grants totaling $1 million from the Ahmanson Foundation towards creating a new center for media studies.

The Media Studies Program at Pitzer has been one of the fastest growing majors within the Claremont Colleges consortium. Since 2004, the number of students majoring in the field has risen 150% and the number of degrees awarded has increased by 50%. The program houses 12 core and 25 affiliated faculty members, offers 70 courses per semester and operates a Production Center.

A state of the art Center for Media Studies will be located in a new Platinum LEED-Certified multi-use facility that will break ground on the Pitzer campus in December 2010.
