Pitzer College Trustee Honored at The National Philanthropy Day 25th Anniversary

Claremont, Calif. (November 10, 2010) — Pitzer College Trustee Eugene P. Stein and his wife Mindy received the Spirit of Philanthropy Award from the Association of Fundraising Professionals during the National Philanthropy Day 25th Anniversary celebration. They were honored for their philanthropic contributions which have benefited many non-profits in the community.

Stein is vice chairman and a director of Capital Strategy Research, a unit of the Capital Group Companies, a global investment management company. He is also senior vice president of Capital World Investors and a director of Capital Research and Management Company.

In 2010, Pitzer College reopened its renovated auditorium renamed George Benson Auditorium, which includes a new glass atrium, named the Eugene and Marilyn Stein Atrium in honor of their gift.

Stein also serves on the Boards of the Los Angeles Opera and UCLA’s Anderson Graduate School of Management. He is president of the Tikun Olam Foundation, a support organization of the Jewish Community Foundation.
