Claremont, Calif. (September 28, 2010) — Pitzer College alumnus Jeff Gottlieb ’75 is a one of two Los Angeles Times staff writers who broke this summer’s biggest scandal in Los Angeles County.
Published on June 24, the article “DA investigating why Bell council members get nearly $100,000 a year for a part-time job,” by Gottlieb and Ruben Vivies, documented excessive salary abuse by high level officials and council members in the City of Bell. Since that time, Gottlieb and Vives have uncovered deeper corruption that led to the arrest of eight of the city’s top officials in September.
Gottlieb, who majored in sociology while at Pitzer College, has worked for the LA Times for the past 13 years. He previously served as writer or editor at the Herald Examiner, Riverside Press Enterprise, San Jose Mercury News and Sports Illustrated.
