Pitzer Students Named to SCIAC All-Academic Football Team

Claremont, Calif. (March 2, 2010) — Pitzer College congratulates Jacob Caron ’12, Robert Montalvo ’10, Russell Oka ’10 and the Sagehen football team members named to the 2009-10 Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) All-Academic Football Team.

“We are proud of the accomplishments of our athletes on and off the field and this particular award is held in high esteem by both the athletes and the colleges,” said Roger Caron, head football coach.

The SCIAC All-Academic Team is selected by the coaches and reflects excellence on and off the football field. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must have a GPA of 3.2 or better and prove to be a strong contributor to their team.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College to field 21 varsity teams – The Sagehens – that compete in Division III NCAA athletics and as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). There are 10 men’s and 11 women’s teams: baseball (men), basketball, cross country, football (men), golf, lacrosse (women), soccer, softball (women), swimming and diving, tennis, track and field, volleyball (women) and water polo.
