Pitzer College Alumna Nominated for James Beard Award

Claremont, Calif. (February 24, 2010) – Pitzer College alumna Jenn Louis ’93, owner and chef of Lincoln Restaurant in Portland, OR, was named a semifinalist for 2010 Best Chef Northwest by the James Beard Foundation.

Louis, with her husband David Welch, opened Lincoln Restaurant in 2008, where they use seasonal ingredients to create simple, elegant and delicious cuisine.

A panel of more than 400 judges will narrow the list to final five nominees per category on March 22 with the winners announced on May 3 at the Lincoln Center Avery Fisher Hall in New York City.

James Beard Foundation awards are the food industry’s highest honor. Awards are given in many categories, including chefs and restaurants, books, journalism, broadcast media, restaurant design and graphics, as well as special achievements.
