Claremont, Calif. (January 15, 2010)—Pitzer College switched its beverage to Hansen’s Beverage Company, a California-based natural foods company, from Coca-Cola in response to a student-led initiative and reflective of the College’s commitment to sustainability and healthy living.
A College committee of students, faculty and staff surveyed students regarding beverage options on campus. The results showed that students preferred natural sodas, juices and teas from companies that support ethical business practices.
The Committee also arranged for filters to be installed in each residence hall kitchen to increase the availability of filtered tap water on campus and decrease water bottle waste.
