Sagehen Cross Country Teams Take Second in SCIAC Championships

Claremont, Calif. (November 13, 2009) – The Sagehen Cross Country men and women’s team took second place in their SCIAC Championship categories.

At the men’s competition, Pitzer student athlete Hale Shaw ’12 was named to the second team SCIAC All-Conference Team.

As a result of the great performances, both the men and women’s Sagehen teams will participate in the NCAA Division III West Region Championships.

The Sagehen men’s team is currently ranked third in the NCAA West Region and 33rd in the country. The women’s team ranks fourth heading into this weekend’s regional meet.

The Sagehens will host the 2009 NCAA Division III West Regional meet on Saturday, November 14. The women’s race is at 9 a.m. and the men’s race begins at 9:45 a.m.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College in the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC.) Sagehen teams include soccer, basketball, football, baseball, track & field, golf, tennis, water polo, swimming and diving. Pitzer students also participate in the Claremont Colleges club sports programs that compete nationally.
